Gut Metallumformung AG was founded in 1957 by Gody Gut. He took over the business from his teacher Gottlieb Kunz, who had been active on Allenbergstrasse in Stäfa since 1927. Under the management of Gody Gut, the company was continuously expanded and production could be expanded from pure manual metal spinning to hydraulic machines. With these investments it was now possible to process dimensions of D 1500 mm and material thicknesses of 6 mm.
In 1984, Pius Widmer bought G. Gut AG from Mr. Gody Gut, who was now taking his well-deserved retirement. From 1984 to 2006, production was expanded in various areas. Larger machines were purchased for deep drawing. From now on it was also possible to manufacture parts up to 1,000 mm using the deep-drawing process. In metal spinning a CNC-controlled spinning bench was purchased, which offers the possibility to work up to 1'100 mm. This machine is also used for the production of the spinning tool, which gives us greater flexibility in production.
A milestone was the production of the de-icing lip for the Pilatus company and the resulting approval as a supplier.
In 2007 the company was taken over by Marcel Klinger in a second succession arrangement.
As of 1 January 2016, production was taken over by Gerber Umformtechnik in Horgen and as of 1 April 2016, the Stäfa site was relocated to Hombrechtikon.
